Planning Continues for C&D World 2024

Work continues on the best networking event in the construction material recycling industry, C&D World 2024, which is set for Jan. 31-Feb. 2 in Bonita Springs, FL.
This will be the 31st Annual Meeting of the CDRA, and as always will be chock full of top-notch sessions on how to improve your business, an exhibit hall to learn about the latest equipment and services in the industry, a tour of a local mixed C&D recycling facility, and of course the chance to talk with and learn from recyclers from across North America.
As always, there will be a focus on end markets and also on providing information to better manage and plan for your business’s future.
All the CDRA committees will be meeting as part of the Board of Directors meeting on Jan. 31, so that will be a good opportunity to learn what the association is doing to move the industry forward and what other recyclers are facing and how they are solving their issues.

In Memoriam: Jay Giltz

Please join us in remembering Jay Glitz, long-time Eagle Crusher Co. sales representative and Construction & Demolition Recycling Association Hall of Fame member. Written by Brian Taylor, at Construction & Demolition Magazine.
Clarence A. “Jay” Giltz Jr., who spent nearly 30 years helping Ohio-based Eagle Crusher Co. boost its presence in the aggregates recycling equipment sector, has died at age 75.

Giltz’s sales and product applications roles with Galion, Ohio-based Eagle Crusher helped that firm grow throughout the 1990s and into the 21st century.

According to its website, Eagle Crusher grew from being a two-person operation at the start of the 1970s to become an industry-leading crushing equipment design and fabrication company with dozens of equipment models. Much of the growth occurred under the leadership of CEO Susanne Cobey starting in the 1990s.

Giltz, along with Cobey, was actively involved with the National Demolition Association and the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA), whose members were frequent buyers of the high-impact crushing units made by Eagle Crusher to recycle concrete. In 2019, Giltz was honored as a CDRA Hall of Fame member.

Before joining Eagle Crusher, Giltz served in the United States Air Force for eight years before being honorably discharged in 1974.

Born in California, Giltz also was a long-time Ohio resident and in his later years maintained homes in Venice, Florida, and in the Thousand Islands region of New York state.

He is survived by his wife Marsha, with whom he frequently attended industry events, as well as one son, one daughter and three grandchildren.

According to an obituary posted on the WWNY-TV website, donations in Giltz’s name may be made to the Thousand Island Emergency Rescue Service (TIERS).

CDRA Midyear Board Meeting

Whenever the CDRA Board of Directors meets is a great opportunity for all association members to also get together and talk about solving the challenges their business face, then work with the board to get that overcome. The next gathering of the board will be Oct. 4-5 in Hartford, CT, and is open to all CDRA members.
However, potential members and others allied to the industry are invited to CDRA’s evening networking event at a local restaurant on Oct. 4.
During the overall board meeting each individual CDRA committee will meet to provide progress updates and work with the board on next steps to be taken. It is a great atmosphere that fosters cooperation and collaboration with different sectors and regions of the construction material recycling industry.
This event will also include an optional tour of USA Waste’s recently updated mixed C&D facility in western Massachusetts, a chance to see the latest technology for the industry.
