Committee Corner
Our Committees are where all of the lifting occurs! Check out highlights from their discussions at our most recent meetings. CDRA members are encouraged to attend committee meetings to get the most out of their memberships.
End Markets Committee
We recently welcomed guest presenter Michael Dorsch from Martlin Distributing LLC, who discussed pellet production for use in solidification. Martlin developed a remediation product established 12 years ago that aims to minimize the amount of drying material required to solidify liquid waste. He discussed the benefits of using "power pellets", a super absorbent polymer blend, which the company believes is superior to traditional wood pellets or high calcium lime, while also eliminating some environmental hazards. Legislative Committee
During the most recent meeting, the agenda included a presentation by Kirk Sander, the Chief of Safety and Standards at the National Waste and Recycling Association, who discussed expected changes to OSHA regulations due to the change in administrations. Read more.
Shingle Recycling Committee
The Shingle Recycling Committee held a productive meeting, welcoming special guests Fausto Bisanti, a PhD student from the University of New Hampshire, and Dr. Emily Parker from the Vermont Agency of Transportation. Fausto presented his research using recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) as a mechanical stabilizer in full-depth reclamation (FDR) road construction. Fausto's work aims to leverage the high volume of waste shingles produced annually, over 10 million tons nationally and 25,000 tons in Vermont alone. Read more.
Gypsum Recycling Committee
The committee welcomed Brooke Fishel, who will be taking over for the Gypsum Association’s Susan Hines upon her retirement. The meeting focused on the Lifecycle Analysis (LCA) of recycled gypsum drywall, with a discussion on the objectives, methods, and continuing progress being made on this project. Read more.

The most recent Safety & Risk Management Committee meeting addressed safety precautions and overall safety practices at member firms, in addition to other timely topics.
